Big questions deserve a team.

The NPRI backs projects that question, test and communicate science beyond the mainstream: documentaries, experiments, podcasts, books, conferences and more. Many of the best ideas come from our own community. Tell us yours.

How a suggestion becomes a project

  1. 1

    Suggest it

Fill in the short form: what the project is, why it matters, and what it would take. Five minutes is plenty.

  2. 2

    We review it

The NPRI team reads every suggestion and gets back to you, often with questions or ideas of our own.

  3. 3

    We build a team

We connect you with members who have the skills, equipment or funding contacts the project needs.

  4. 4

    It goes public

The project gets its own space here, so the community can follow along, pitch in and spread the word.

What makes a strong suggestion

  • A clear question or goal. What will exist, or what will we know, when it's done?
  • Why it matters. What gap does it fill, and who will it reach?
  • A realistic first step. Big visions are welcome; a small starting point gets them moving.
  • What you bring. Leading, helping, or just sharing the idea are all fine. Tell us which.

The NPRI community has the talent. Bring the idea.

Our members include physicists, engineers, experimenters, filmmakers, writers, editors, podcasters and educators. Whether you have a project in mind or skills to offer, there's a place for you here.
